The Schenectady Foundation: Learn about the Erbacher Scholarship

Learn about the Erbacher Scholarship

Thanks to a generous gift from John Erbacher in memory of his wife Anna - a passionate and dedicated teacher during her life -- The Schenectady Foundation offers a scholarship to graduating seniors of Schenectady County high schools who intend to pursue teaching careers.

The scholarship is $2,500 per year, and may be awarded for a total of four years subject to continued qualification, including satisfactory grades. The Foundation generally awards one or two new scholarships each year.

Applications are made available from guidance counselors at Schenectady County high schools in March of each year, and must be received by The Schenectady Foundation by April 27th. The scholarship winners are announced in May.

Payment of the grant is made directly to the college upon receipt of satisfactory evidence of enrollment and billing. The grant may be used for tuition, room and board, activity fees and any direct costs that are billed through the bursar's office.

The final selection of the scholarship recipient is based on scholarship, financial need, character and extra curricular activities.
