Pre-K students dedicate new playground at Early Childhood Center
When students at St. Anthony’s Early Childhood Center came back to school in September, they discovered a special treat – a new playground. The playground was unveiled at a dedication ceremony on September 12th, where the school acknowledged the support of The Schenectady Foundation.
The school raised half the funds, and a grant from The Schenectady Foundation provided the remaining funds to make the playground a reality. The improved playground equipment is safer and more appropriate for the young children in the Center’s programs. The school serves about 75 children and their families, has a universal pre-K program, and houses a program for children who are hearing impaired.
A Foundation grant program assists non-profit child care centers to improve their equipment and facilities. More than $132,000 has been granted to-date. Other child care centers which have received facility improvement grants are: YWCA, Carver Community Center, Child Program and Family Resource Center, Niskayuna Community Child Care Center and the Jewish Community Center.

Students from the Early Childhood Center at St. Anthony’s eagerly await the opening of the school’s new playground, funded in part by The Schenectady Foundation.
