GoodNews-SunnyviewRehab bedside_1887.jpgSunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation is currently renovating its orthopedic unit. The upgrades will enable Sunnvyiew to be more responsive to changes in healthcare needs, to increased community demand for specialty rehabilitation services and to serve its patients to the best of its abilities, offering a comfortable and attractive environment in which to heal. The Schenectady Foundation has provided a $25,000 grant for the upgrade project. Those served by the inpatient orthopedic unit include patients with joint fractures and replacements, major multiple trauma patients (with broken bones), rheumatology patients, spinal surgery patients and debility patients (those who are weak or feeble due to an illness). In 2009, Sunnyview served 1,089 inpatients in the orthopedic unit. While most patients came from Schenectady, Albany, Saratoga and Rensselaer counties, Sunnyview also cared for individuals from 27 other counties in New York State, western Massachusetts, southern Vermont and northern Connecticut. www.nehealth.com/Medical_Care/Sunnyview_Rehabilitation_Hospital/
