Apply for a Grant
To apply for a grant you must submit a Letter of Inquiry, which includes the following:
- Letter of Inquiry Summary (DOC) page signed by executive director and/or board chair.
- Answers to Letter of Inquiry Questions (below), limited to two pages.
- A letter of determination from the IRS indicating that your organization is a 501 (c) 3 tax exempt organization
Letter of Inquiry Questions:
- Provide a description of the project or program for which you seek funding. Indicate why you are seeking funding at this time, and how you would use funding provided by TSF.
- Does the proposed project address TSF’s Strengthening Families strategic focus? Explain how the project substantively addresses TSF’s strategy.
- Describe the anticipated benefits of the proposed project for the community in general, and for the specific population to be served.
- Specify the measurable results to be achieved by the project, and the indicators you will use to determine its success.
- Identify other significant funding commitments you have received. Explain how a TSF grant will leverage other resources for this project?
- Identify other collaborating or partner organizations, if any, that are involved in this project, and explain their roles.
Submitting your Letter of Inquiry:
Letters of Inquiry may be submitted throughout the year. There is no specific due date, and the date of submission does not affect the likelihood of success in obtaining a grant.
Mail one hard copy of the LOI (do not staple) to the address below:

You will receive an email confirming receipt of your LOI. Foundation staff will be in contact with you if additional information is needed, and to give you the approximate date you will learn whether your organization will be invited to submit a grant proposal. The acceptance letter will describe the grant proposal requirements and submission dates.
