Building the Foundation

A few ordinary people with an extraordinary desire to help their community planted the seeds from which The Schenectady Foundation has grown.

There are many ways you can choose to remember your community and your loved ones. A bequest of a particular amount or a percentage of your residuary estate is the most common. Another is to establish a trust through a local financial institution, with income from the trust benefiting the Foundation.

Most gifts to the Foundation are unrestricted, resulting in the Foundation's ability to make grants that are significant and meet current needs.

Gifts restricted to a field of interest or to a specific cause or organization are accepted if they are substantial enough to make meaningful grants. One example is the Anna Hudson Erbacher Scholarship.

The Schenectady Foundation is grateful to these benefactors whose vision and generosity are providing a lasting resource to support our community.
