Alice H. Stackpole

In her youth, Alice Stackpole's mother had lived in New York's southern tier, where she had purchase several shares of the predecessor corporation to International Business Machines (IBM). She later married a GE production employee who she survived, and left her estate in equal shares to her daughters.

Her financial wisdom resulted in a substantial legacy. When Alice died in 1989, she left 82% of her residual estate to The Schenectady Foundation; approximately $900,000.
